Local privilege escalation via hidden accessibility service
Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Privilege escalation in Android 10, 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to gain elevated privileges without user interaction. AccessibilityManager.getEnabledAccessibilityServiceList applies faulty filtering logic that lets an enabled accessibility service be omitted from the returned list. A local user with existing low privileges can exploit the hidden-service state without victim interaction and obtain higher privileges on the device.
