Local Wi-Fi settings disclosure after factory reset
Published Feb 28, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Information disclosure in Android 10 through 13 allows local users to recover Wi-Fi settings retained after a user-triggered reset. The WifiServiceImpl.factoryReset path fails to clear the stored SoftAP configuration, and WifiApConfigStore can retain a user configuration instead of replacing it with defaults. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction with the reset flow; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of residual Wi-Fi configuration data, not modification or service interruption.
