CVE-2022-20471

Local information disclosure via unchecked MIFARE buffer read

Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Android 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to disclose information through the NXP NFC HAL. SendIncDecRestoreCmdPart2 uses a fixed-size loop to copy bytes from mfcData without first comparing the loop bound with the supplied buffer length. A short MIFARE increment or decrement command therefore reads past that buffer; exploitation needs low-privileged local access but no user interaction.
