Local privilege escalation via Trusty log use-after-free
Published Aug 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in the Trusty log driver in Google Android allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges. The trusty_log_seq_start function inadequately synchronizes per-read sink lifetime, allowing allocated state to be freed while it remains in use. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges on an affected Pixel device and no user interaction; Google keeps the detailed issue and patch nonpublic.
