CVE-2022-20358

Local information disclosure via unchecked sync caller

Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Sep 3, 2025

Missing authorization in Android 10 through 12L Framework allows local users to read protected content-provider data without interaction. AbstractThreadedSyncAdapter.startSync accepted calls from non-system-server UIDs and launched sync work without enforcing the system-server caller check. Execution as a local user is required, and the impact is limited to disclosure of protected provider content.
