CVE-2022-20353

Local file disclosure via unvalidated ringtone URI

Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in DefaultRingtonePreference in Android 10 through 12L allows local users to read files through a crafted ringtone URI. DefaultRingtonePreference.onSaveRingtone accepts a picker-supplied URI without verifying that its resolved MIME type is audio before passing it to RingtoneManager. A low-privileged local app can supply the URI without user interaction; disclosure is limited to files readable through the Settings application context.
