Client-side script execution via unrestricted player configuration URL
Published Jun 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Rustici Software SCORM Engine before 20.1.45.914 and 21.1.1 through 21.1.7.218 allows remote attackers to run scripts. The modern player passes the user-controlled playerConfUrl value to loadCode in loader.js without restricting its origin or URI scheme, allowing external or data URI JavaScript to load. Exploitation requires a victim to open a crafted link; the script runs in the integrated LMS origin and can take over the victim's account.
