Installed-app disclosure via observable response discrepancy
Published Aug 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in DevicePolicyManager in Google Cloud Android 13 allows local users to determine whether an app is installed. DevicePolicyManager exposes an observable response discrepancy when an app without package-query permission tests for another app's presence. A locally installed app needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and the disclosed fact is limited to app presence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
