CVE-2022-20241

Local file disclosure via SMS attachment

Published Aug 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper input validation in Android 13 Messaging allows local users to disclose private files by attaching them to SMS messages without user interaction. Messaging accepts an input that identifies a private file and permits that file to be attached to an SMS instead of enforcing the intended access restriction. Exploitation is local, requires no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and the reported consequence is confidentiality loss without integrity or availability impact.
