Server command execution via case-insensitive Git path bypass
Published Feb 25, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
OS command injection in the repository editor in Gogs before 0.12.11 allows remote attackers to gain SSH access to the server. The isRepositoryGitPath check compares .git path segments case-sensitively, so crafted .Git uploads and deletions can alter Git configuration on case-insensitive filesystems. Exploitation requires repository upload, which is enabled by default, a case-insensitive filesystem such as Windows or macOS, and repository modification access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
