Remote code execution via unchecked HFP indicator index
Published Jul 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 10, 11, 12, and 12L allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted Bluetooth HFP indicator list. The bta_hf_client_handle_cind_list_item function stores a matched CIND indicator at a peer-controlled index in the fixed-size indicator_lookup array without first checking that index. A remote Bluetooth HFP peer requires no Android privileges or user interaction, and successful memory corruption permits code execution in the Bluetooth service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
