Remote code execution via undersized GATT response buffer
Published Jul 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 12 and 12L Bluetooth GATT processing allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted GATT read. The read_attr_value function writes a two-byte characteristic extended-properties value without confirming that the response's remaining MTU can hold it. An attacker within Bluetooth range needs no prior privileges or user interaction, and successful memory corruption grants code execution in the System component.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
