Privilege escalation in Android 12 and Android 12L PermissionController allows local users to retain permissions through a crafted app request. GrantPermissionsViewModel counts granted group permissions even when REVOKE_WHEN_REQUESTED marks them for exclusion, triggering an incorrect split-permission auto-grant. Exploitation requires user interaction with the permission request, after which the requesting app keeps permissions without the user's consent.
