Local privilege escalation via malformed NFC configuration TLV
Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 10 through 12L allows local users to escalate privileges through a malformed NFC configuration TLV. In nfa_dm_check_set_config, the NFC stack trusts a TLV length that exceeds the remaining list and processes data beyond the supplied buffer. Exploitation requires local code execution but no user interaction or additional execution privileges, and successful corruption can raise the attacker's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
