Local privilege escalation via exported call dialog
Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in Android 10 through 12L allows local users to elevate privileges through a crafted CallSubjectDialog request. The exported CallSubjectDialog activity accepts externally supplied call-subject arguments, and readArguments fails to validate the destination number before presenting the call. A low-privileged local application requires no user interaction and can cause the device to use an attacker-chosen phone number.
