Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek preloader USB code on Android 10.0 through 12.0 allows physically proximate attackers to elevate privileges. The preloader USB path writes beyond a buffer because it processes input without the required bounds check. Exploitation requires physical device access and user interaction, but no prior execution privileges; successful memory corruption elevates privileges on the device.
