Local privilege escalation via fb driver use-after-free
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in the MediaTek fb driver on Android 10.0 and 11.0 allows local users to escalate privileges through memory corruption. MediaTek identifies stale-memory access in the fb driver but has not disclosed the affected function, object, or triggering operation. A low-privileged local user can exploit the corrupted memory without user interaction to gain higher privileges on a device using an affected chipset.
