Local privilege escalation via translucent-task race
Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Race condition in the Framework component of Android 10, 11, 12, and 12L allows local users to hijack an app's authentication UI. RootWindowContainer resumes a top-focusable activity while it is invisible or occluded by a translucent task, leaving the app acting as though it remains foregrounded. Exploitation requires user interaction during the local race and grants privileges through the targeted authentication flow.
