CVE-2022-1989Network attack vector

User enumeration via distinct login feedback

Published Aug 23, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Observable response discrepancy in CODESYS Visualization before 4.2.0.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid users. The generated login dialog returns different feedback for a nonexistent user and an incorrect password for an existing user. Any remotely reachable visualization using the generated affected dialog exposes account validity without authentication, but no password or session data is disclosed.
