CVE-2022-1986Network attack vector

Remote command execution via .git path bypass

Published Jun 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

OS command injection in Gogs before 0.12.9 allows remote attackers to execute commands by editing repository files through the file editor. The repository editor failed to recognize crafted .git paths using alternate separators, allowing configuration files in .git to be written and protected files to be deleted. Installations with repository upload enabled are exposed; successful exploitation can place SSH configuration in the repository and provide server access.
