Application crash or heap overwrite via integer overflow
Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in GStreamer Good Plug-ins before 1.20.3 allows context-dependent attackers to crash applications via a crafted MKV file. The gst_matroska_decompress_data function doubles an attacker-controlled decompression buffer size until integer overflow makes realloc shrink it before writes continue. Processing the file requires user interaction; mmap-backed allocation leads to a segfault, while other libc or OS behavior can permit a heap overwrite.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
