Stored script injection via forged settings request
Published Jul 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Button Widget Smartsoft 1.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject stored scripts through plugin settings. The smartsoftbutton_settings page processes settings updates without validating a WordPress nonce, allowing attacker-controlled script content to be saved. Exploitation requires tricking a site administrator into submitting the forged request; stored scripts then execute in affected WordPress contexts.
