Browser script execution via unescaped AJAX title
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Averta Shortcodes and extra features for Phlox theme before 2.9.8 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser. The unauthenticated aux_the_recent_products AJAX action returns the data[title] parameter in its response without sanitization or output escaping. Exploitation requires a user to follow a crafted URL; the injected script runs in the site's origin and can read or modify data available to that browser session.
