Administrator-level stored XSS via unsanitized settings
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Sygnoos Popup Builder before 4.1.11 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to inject scripts. The plugin saves certain popup settings without sanitizing them and renders the stored values without output escaping, causing injected JavaScript to execute in a visitor's browser. Exploitation requires administrator-level access and user interaction, and it affects multisite sites or installations where the unfiltered_html capability is disabled.
