Revoked privilege retention via incomplete session hash
Published May 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Session fixation in FileGator before 7.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to retain revoked account privileges. The JsonFile authentication adapter validates a stored session with a hash of only the password, excluding the user permissions, home directory, and role from the comparison. Exploitation requires a session created before those account attributes change, and preserves only the access held by that stale session.
