Protection bypass via nonce-free settings updates
Published Jun 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in S. Matern CaPa Protect 0.5.8.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to disable content protections. The administrative settings and role pages accept attacker-chosen POST fields without a nonce or other CSRF validation before saving protection options. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to submit the crafted forms, after which protected categories, pages, posts, or attachments can be exposed.
