Stored XSS via spoofed upload MIME type
Published May 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Publify before 9.2.9 allows remote authenticated users to upload HTML disguised as plain text and run script in browsers. ResourceUploader checks actual content only for declared images, so an HTML resource labeled text/plain passes the allowlist without content-based MIME validation. Access to the authenticated administrative resource-upload endpoint is required, and viewing the stored resource executes attacker-controlled script in a reader's browser.
