Admin-to-super-admin escalation via Webadmin SQL injection
Published Sep 7, 2022 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
SQL injection in Sophos Firewall Webadmin before 18.5 MR4 or 19.0 MR1 allows remote authenticated users to escalate admin privileges via crafted requests. Webadmin SQL queries fail to neutralize attacker-controlled input, allowing database statements to alter privilege data. An authenticated administrator with network access to Webadmin can obtain super-administrator control, affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
