Content deletion via CSRF-unprotected settings update
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Cypher Auto Delete Posts 1.3.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to make an administrator delete content. The settings handler at wp-admin/options-general.php?page=auto-delete-posts.php accepts deletion settings in a POST request without verifying a CSRF token. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to load an attacker-controlled page; a forged submission can delete selected posts, categories, and attachments.
