File upload and deletion via unchecked AJAX actions
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in WP Chill Filr before 1.2.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to upload HTML files or delete server files. The upload_file and delete_file AJAX handlers accept a dashboard-exposed nonce without checking the caller's capability; crafted post_id or filename values select paths and deletion targets. Subscriber access is sufficient, and successful requests can execute browser script from uploaded HTML or remove files writable by the web server.
