CVE-2022-1772Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Super-administrator account takeover via stored API-key XSS

Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in Reviews Block for Google before 2.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to hijack super-administrator accounts. The plugin stores the Google Places API key without proper escaping and reflects it in an administration-panel field, allowing an event-handler payload to execute. Exploitation requires a multisite administrator to save the payload and a super-administrator to view the affected panel; resulting script execution can take over that account.
