Settings changes via missing CSRF validation
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in Core Control 1.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to change settings via an administrator's browser. The core_control-modules, core_control-updates, and core_control-fs admin-post actions accept state-changing requests without verifying a CSRF nonce. An administrator must be logged in and induced to load attacker-controlled HTML; successful requests can enable modules, disable update checks, or disable a filesystem transport.
