Reflected XSS via unescaped request URI
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in The Newsletter Plugin's Newsletter before 7.4.5 allows remote attackers to run script in an admin's browser via a crafted URL. The plugin applies addslashes to $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] but echoes the value into multiple WordPress administrator pages without context-appropriate sanitization or output escaping. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator using Internet Explorer 9 or earlier to open the URL, after which the script can access browser-session data and actions.
