Code execution via traversed election-definition paths
Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Path traversal in Dominion Voting Systems ImageCast X 5.5-A allows attackers to execute code via crafted election definition files. The election-definition importer fails to confine ../ path references to an intended directory, enabling selected files to place or invoke malicious code. Exploitation requires physical access, EMS access, or the ability to alter files before upload, and malicious code can spread from the EMS to devices.
