CVE-2022-1714Public exploit

Memory disclosure or crash via short MSP430 input

Published May 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in radare2 before 5.7.0 allows local users to read process memory or crash the tool with a crafted MSP430 binary. The MSP430 disassembler's msp430_op function reads a two-byte call operand from buf at offset 2 without first verifying sufficient input length. Exploitation requires an affected local installation to analyze the malformed instruction stream, and the reported consequences are limited to memory disclosure or a process crash.
