CVE-2022-1697

Local code execution via unquoted service path

Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Unquoted service path in Okta Active Directory Agent 3.8.0 through 3.11.0 allows local users to redirect privileged service execution. The installer registers the Okta AD Agent Update Service executable path without surrounding quotes, allowing Windows to resolve an attacker-placed executable from an earlier whitespace-delimited path segment. Administrator access is required to place malicious software in that path, after which the service executes it instead of the intended updater.
