Banner manipulation via unchecked admin POST requests
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Useful Banner Manager 1.6.1 and earlier allows attackers to alter banner content via a crafted form. The banners.php admin handler accepts banner add, edit, and delete POST actions without validating a request-specific CSRF token. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to load attacker-controlled content, after which the request can add, modify, or delete plugin banners.
