Authenticated SQL injection via shortcode parameter
Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in Amit Gupta amtyThumb 4.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL via a shortcode. The shortcode handler inserts an attacker-controlled parameter into an SQL statement without sanitizing or escaping it. Subscriber-level access is sufficient because the authenticated parse-media-shortcode AJAX action executes shortcodes, exposing the WordPress database to attacker-chosen SQL operations.
