CVE-2022-1669Network attack vector

Authenticated stack overflow via unchecked Address copy

Published May 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in CIRCUTOR COMPACT DC-S BASIC version CIR_CDC_v1.2.17 allows remote authenticated users to affect integrity and availability. The firewall function in the index.cgi management CGI copies a submitted Address value with strcpy into a second variable without length checking, allowing a long value to overwrite the process stack and return address. Valid web-portal credentials are required, and the documented consequence is process control with integrity and availability impact; confidentiality impact is not reported.
