Settings overwrite via missing CSRF check
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Tim Whitlock's Latest Tweets Widget 1.1.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to overwrite plugin settings. The settings endpoint at wp-admin/options-general.php?page=twitter-api-admin accepts cross-origin POST values for saf_twitter credentials without verifying a CSRF token. An administrator must be logged in and load attacker-controlled content; the resulting request can replace configured Twitter API keys and secrets.
