CVE-2022-1596Network attack vector

Authenticated user database disclosure via file permissions

Published Jun 21, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Incorrect file permissions in ABB REX640 allow remote authenticated users to read the relay's user database over the network. The firmware grants every authenticated role access to the user database file, exposing usernames and password hashes that are not stored in clear text. Any user role is sufficient, and the disclosed hashes can be attacked offline to obtain credentials, but ABB reports no direct cleartext password exposure.
