Stored XSS via forged settings update
Published Jun 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Site Offline Or Coming Soon Or Maintenance Mode 1.6.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script via CSRF. The settings handler accepts cp_siteoffline_content without a CSRF check, sanitization, or output escaping, then stores the supplied markup. A logged-in administrator must visit attacker-controlled content that submits the forged request; the payload then executes when the stored content is rendered in a browser.
