Unauthenticated internal-resource access via remote_cors proxy
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Server-side request forgery in Clinical Genomics Scout before 4.42 allows remote attackers to retrieve arbitrary URLs through the server. The remote_cors route passes its URL parameter directly to requests.request without requiring authentication or confirming that the resource belongs to the session's IGV tracks. No account or user interaction is required; successful requests can expose internal or local resources reachable from the Scout server.
