Victim-session script execution via incomplete module sanitization
Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Microweber before 1.2.16 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser through module input. ApiController::module replaces angle brackets in string keys and values but leaves quotes intact, while XSSClean omits the ondragexit event handler from its denylist. Exploitation requires victim interaction; injected script runs in the site's browser origin and can read or alter data available to that session.
