Backup email diversion via missing scheduled-form nonce
Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSRF in WP Engine Database Backup for WordPress before 2.5.2 allows remote attackers to alter scheduled-backup settings. The scheduled-backup form accepts wp_cron_schedule, cron_backup_recipient, and wp_cron_backup_options POST values without a nonce check. A logged-in administrator must visit attacker-controlled content; the forged request can redirect emailed backups or disable automatic backups.
