Arbitrary file upload via unchecked import
Published Jun 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in HTML2WP 1.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to place arbitrary PHP files on WordPress servers. The file-import handler accepts the local_importing[] multipart field without authorization, CSRF validation, or file-type validation and stores it under wp-content/uploads/html2wp. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the server can execute an uploaded PHP file from the web-accessible uploads path.
