Administrator browser script execution via unescaped event names
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Athletics 1.1.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator's browser. The public race-result form stores an unsanitized Event Name, and the manage-results admin page outputs that value without escaping. Subscriber-level access is required to submit the payload; execution occurs when an administrator opens the stored result, exposing that browser session to script actions.
