Contributor-level spreadsheet formula execution via unsanitized export
Published Jul 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSV injection in Exports and Reports before 0.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to trigger spreadsheet formulas through exported data. The CSV generator writes contributor-controlled post titles without neutralizing leading formula characters, so Excel or OpenOffice interprets payloads as formulas or hyperlinks. Contributor access is sufficient to plant a payload, but an administrator must export the affected data and open the CSV in a spreadsheet; execution or data disclosure then occurs in that user's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
