CVE-2022-1533

Application crash via incorrect inflection bounds checks

Published Apr 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Buffer over-read in libmobi before 0.11 allows local users to crash applications that parse crafted MOBI inflection data. mobi_decode_infl in src/index.c validates a derived position too late and checks the wrong pointer boundary, permitting a stack read outside the decoded inflection buffer. The CNA reports arbitrary code execution, while the upstream release limits the documented security impact to crashes.
