CVE-2022-1509Network attack vector

Root command execution via unchecked sed identifier

Published Apr 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 30, 2024

Command injection in HestiaCP Hestia Control Panel before 1.5.12 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code as root. The v-delete-user-notification command interpolates an unchecked notification identifier into a sed program executed by the root-owned backend. Low-privilege panel access is required; a crafted identifier can alter the sed script and invoke shell commands with root privileges.
